Start with the address, not the regional label
Midland and Odessa share many workplaces and institutions, but city services depend on the address where you will live. Begin by confirming which city or county serves that address. The City of Midland has separate pages for utility providers and water service; Odessa uses its own utility service agreement and billing department.
The cities publish their own requirements for starting service. Use those forms directly rather than a generic moving checklist, and check deposits or documents at the time you apply. If the address lies outside city limits, ask the provider which jurisdiction handles it.
Match school enrollment to your home
Midland ISD and Ector County ISD run separate enrollment processes. Start with the district that serves your address and follow its current admissions instructions before collecting paperwork or assuming a particular campus.
For college and training, Midland College, Odessa College and UT Permian Basin all publish their own program and admission information. Workforce Solutions Permian Basin can also help adults explore jobs and training from offices in both cities.
Set up the everyday routes
EZ-Rider operates local routes and an EZ-Connect service between Midland and Odessa. Its commuter page explains downtown transfer points and publishes the current schedule. Check your actual home-to-work or school trip before deciding whether transit meets the hours you need.
If you fly, Midland International Air & Space Port publishes ground transportation options, including rental cars, rideshare and pickup zones. The airport is a regional service, but its location does not make every trip in the Basin identical.
Find care and support before you need it
Midland Health and Medical Center Health publish services and locations for their respective systems. Check the provider, insurance and appointment details directly; this guide cannot tell you which clinician is available today.
Texas 2-1-1 can search community support by location and need. For food assistance, the West Texas Food Bank now directs people to partner and mobile distributions rather than its former in-house pantry model. Those sources should be saved alongside the more routine move-in links.
