The cook-off runs Friday and Saturday, October 9–10, but the venue identifies Saturday, October 10 as the public program. Gates open at 10 a.m. Central. Barbecue sampling runs from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., and vendors and food trucks are scheduled from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Special Olympics Texas lists an athlete victory celebration beginning at 6 p.m. Do not assume Friday’s team setup and jackpot competitions are a public tasting session.
The current Coliseum event page lists general admission at $10, a $50 VIP pass and free entry for children age 9 and younger. The ticket checkout controls availability, fees and the current benefits attached to each selection. Food-truck and vendor purchases are separate. Team registration closed September 25, so the cook-team link is not a same-day visitor ticket.
The venue schedules Verika A from 10–11:30 a.m., 12 Mile from 12:15–1:45 p.m., West Bound Hearts from 2:30–4 p.m. and Caleb Young from 6–7:30 p.m., with One Time Entertainment listed throughout the day. Competition turn-ins are chicken at noon, ribs at 1 p.m., pork at 2 p.m. and brisket at 3 p.m. Awards follow later Saturday. These times come from the current organizer and venue pages and remain subject to operational change.
The Coliseum says parking is complimentary for most events but directs visitors to the individual event for exceptions. Its current policy limits bags to 12 by 12 inches and searches all bags; outside food and beverages, glass, weapons, air horns and recording equipment are among the prohibited items. Wheelchair and walker seating depends on the event setup. Call the box office at 432-366-3541 for an accessible seating arrangement or another venue-specific need. Re-entry varies by event, so ask staff before leaving the grounds.
High Steaks raises support for Special Olympics Texas athletes while the statewide Fall Classic runs at venues across Midland and Odessa. The City of Midland and Ector County Coliseum independently confirm the dates and venue. Official event and venue photos were reviewed, but their pages do not provide a reusable website license; this guide links to those original pages instead of copying the images. Recheck the organizer before traveling if weather or operations could change an outdoor portion of the program.
